Outside of the main characters in an anime series, it seems as though a side character can become popular quickly. All The Demon Slayer Hashiras only appeared briefly in the first season, but what made them so popular was their personality and unique strength for such a brief appearance.

What do the “Hashiras” in Demon Slayer refer to?

First of all about All The Demon Slayer Hashiras: Hashira are powerful warriors who fight against Kibutsuji Muzan and his twelve moons, shown in the Japanese word “hashira” meaning “pillar.” They play a key role in organizations around the world during their dangerous mission.
The 97th leader of Demon Slayer Corp is Kagaya Ubuyashiki. He’s most famously known as “Oyakata-sama” by members of his organization. He assigns all Hashira to specific regions to gather information about demons and save people from them.

What role does the concept of “hashiras” play in Demon Slayer?

Hashira is a title given to low-ranked demon slayers. Each one is also assigned a difficult mission that is only possible for the low ranking recipients of this title.

The unique skills and styles of this martial art are as diverse as its patrons. Some of the styles or defense patterns are either created by them or passed on through their family tree. This mysterious martial art is reliant on high endurance and an extraordinary level of will. It’s the only one who can stand up to Muzan’s brutal demon army, thereby protecting all those around them.

All The Demon Slayer Hashiras

Insect Hashira: Shinobu Kocho

Among All The Demon Slayer Hashiras, Shinobu Kocho is the current Insect Hasira of Demon Slayer Corps and she made her debut in their first episode. Shinobu is a woman with purple eyes, black hair and wavy ends that fade to dark purple.
Though she’s beautiful, Shinobu is also a powerful Hashira. She joins Demon Slayer Corps to protect others from demons. Because demons killed her parents when she was just a child.
Shinobu is usually very friendly and cheerful. Although she can suffer from feelings of sadness, she always has a smile on her face. Due to the passing of her parents and older sister, Shinobu holds an enormous amount of anti-demon sentiment.
She doesn’t let up easily when teasing demons, but then kills them without batting an eye lid.
Abilities
Shinobu is relatively physically weaker than most of her compatriots, but she makes up for this lack with her creativity and ability to quickly perceive what’s around her. She fights using her deadly poisons, which she spits from a distance. Of course, she also makes antidotes to any type of poison.
On the martial arts circuit, she’s known for her speed and reflexes that enable her to evade opponents’ attacks with ease. Her ability to dodge makes it look like she’s traveling at a speed that forces those who allow themselves to be hit, to feel as if they are taking damage from an unseen hand.
Her breathing technique is called ‘Insect Breathing,’ which she created herself. There are four different forms of this breathing technique.

Water Hashira: Tomioka Giyu

Tomioka Giyu is the Water Hashira in Demon Slayer. He has appeared in the first episode and will continue to appear throughout the entire show.
Giyu has rarely been portrayed as having an expression on his face. He’s not very friendly and even more so, he seems to have a hard time connecting with people.
Giyu possesses a very high sense of justice as well as amazing speed and reflexes. When he is properly trained, he is virtually unstoppable. This comes complete with his ability to take down Nezuko’s demon in one hit when he was only one year old.
Abilities
His combat style is called “Water Breathing.” He is the most skilled water-breathing user among all of the ancestors of Hashiras.
Giyu has developed multiple new forms of water-based martial arts to take his mastery of this technique to a whole new level. In utilizing these ten forms, he no longer needs to move and can enter into a defensive mode with ease.

Flame Hashira: Kyojuro Rengoku

Kyojuro Rengoku is the Flame Hasira of the Demon Slayer Corps and was first introduced to audiences as a main character in season 1 episode 21. He recently played a major role in Season 2’s Mugen Train arc.
Rengoku is the Hashira who believes that those born with strength, are obligated to always protect the weak because he believes in “kindness as a weapon.” He is an inspiration to others by his deeds of kindness.
Abilities
Tactical intelligence, combined with strict discipline and practice, have given him incredible speed and strength. He is also a skilled swordsman who showed us his mastery in the fight against Akaza.
He mastered multiple breathing techniques and became the most skilled user of all nine within his tribe.

Mist Hashira: Muichiro Tokito

Muichiro Tokito
There is one Mist Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps, and his name is Muichiro Tokito. Among All The Demon Slayer Hashiras,  He is one of the youngest and most talented members of the organization and only qualified with months of training, which makes him a skilled fighter.
Tokito doesn’t seem to care about anything. He is absorbed in his own thoughts, and never expresses his emotions. But he does have a keen sense of how many auras are present within demons or humans.
Abilities
His breathing technique is called “Mist Breathing,” and it’s rumored that he is the most skilled mist user of his generation. He created a new style of mist-breathing called “Seventh Form: Obscuring Clouds,” which allows him to take on his opponent with speed.

Sound Hashira: Tengen Uzui

Tengen Uzui is a Sound Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps and also All The Demon Slayer Hashiras, with debuting in Episode 21. Nearly two seasons later, he takes on a major role within the second season, Act 2: The Entertainment District Arc. He’s also a member of the Shinobi clan who kind of doesn’t want to follow in his dad’s footsteps and has opted not to pick up the mantle of demon slayer.
In order to protect others, he made the decision to leave his village and become one himself, so that he’ll be able to focus on doing what’s right without making his father sadder.
He is the most attractive and flashy of the Hashiras in the demon slayer group. He calls himself the God of Flashiness and Festivals, and his personality is very unique and bold.
Abilities
Uzui has excellent tactical skills in combat, which helped him turn his opponent’s rhythm into a musical score. His incredible sense of hearing also allowed him to locate anyone by analyzing sounds reflected in the surrounding environment. Uzui possesses great strength and speed, giving a toe-to-toe battle against Gyutaro even after losing an eye and a hand.
He’s been in the game for quite a while, and has mastered all three forms of his presentation: the roar, constant resounding slashes, and string performance.

Stone Pillar: Gyomei Himejima

Gyomei Himejima is the Stone Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. He is one of the most powerful and respected Hashiras in the organization, which has brought him a lot of respect. He’s also a symbol of hope for this group of people who have been raised to believe they will never have a chance at life.
Gyomei is born blind, but with monstrous strength that make it difficult to overcome obstacles during his childhood, he struggles to find his place in a world that’s already too hard on society.
He is a gentle, sensitive, and kind-hearted person. He also respects all living creatures and is religious.
Abilities
Although he’s physically impaired, his incredible hearing helps him to locate his enemy’s movements and counter them. He has exceptional speed and reflexes despite being a large-bodied person.
He practices breathing techniques that have been passed down through generations in order to help him get into the right mindset. He’s mastered all five types of these techniques, using a spiked flail and an axe, instead of a sword.

Love Hashira: Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri Kanroji is the Love Hashira in All The Demon Slayer Hashiras . She completed her final selection to become Hashira in just six months. She has a distinct swordsmanship style that sets her apart from all of her other supervisors and assistants.
Mitsuri is very emotional and shy. She always treats others in kind and cheerful ways.
Abilities
Despite her looks, she has an abnormal physical strength, immense pain tolerance, high stamina and a super flexible body. Her muscle density is eight times that of normal humans. She eats so much to maintain the composition of her body.
Her breathing technique is focused on Love Breathing. This technique is geared towards making it easier to attack a wide range of enemies with ease. She successfully mastered all six forms of the love breathing technique.
